Uncle Darryl’s Musings on Being Indian

By Joe

Our late Uncle Darryl often wondered why Native Men think they are all “born” mechanics; the world’s “best” fighters and the world’s “greatest” lovers. For example:

Uncle Darryl used to say as soon as you pop up your hood on a Reservation you’ll have at least three men gather round staring into the engine compartment. No matter how technologically advanced that engine may be, they will all claim they can fix it with a crescent wrench, a vice-grip and/or possibly a hammer.

Indians will proclaim in a bar when the crowd is getting mean and ugly, “O.K., Little Guys bunch up; Big Guys line up!”

As for the world’s “greatest” lovers — I smile and say, “Hey I have three kids age three and under...”
